IN PICTURES: The New Big Brother House

The new look BB House images have been revealed by Channel 5 and we here at Big Brother’s Blog think we like it! The House has a simple yet vibrant interior which seems to take the show back to its open plan routes.

UPDATE  Channel 5 accidently released larger images of the BB House via their Facebook page. See just the large images at this link.

Entrance:

Gone is the central staircase, this time replaced by a illuminated spiral staircase which doesn’t appear to be closed off from the main living area meaning that Housemates will almost certainly hear the Eviction crowd as the latest Evictee is released.

The images are quite small but we reckon that’s probably the Diary Room still positioned under the stairs.

Living Area:

Once again the dominant colours in the living area are blues and purples but Big Brother 11’s glass walls have all been removed and the kitchen restored to its traditional “off the living area” position. Last seen in this area of the House during BB8 the new kitchen features imitation dark wood panels and white counter tops and is comparatively small to those of recent BB Houses.

The dining table is inside the living area towards the front of the House.

Sofa Area:

The colourful segmented sofas dominate the room positioned in front of the patio doors to the garden. 20 illuminated blocks can be seen on the wall – will these soon be etched with the images of fresh new Housemates? Most interior walls appear to be covered with printed imagery. We’re not sure but that looks like it could be coral in the living area.

Bedroom:

The bedroom has a luxurious feel reminiscent of that of BB7 but with less detail and features only one double bed this year.  Warm pinks, purples and beige are sure to make the Housemates feel like snuggling down in their new surroundings. The mirrors appear to be very large in the bedroom embellished as they are with fancy golden picture frame designs. The walls appear to be printed with sunset imagery. There are 11 beds including one double making room for 12 Housemates.

Bathroom:

The rumoured glass bathroom is part true. Located behind the sofa area and visible from the garden it isn’t quite in the middle of the House as was previously suggested by The Daily Star. The bathtub is located in the middle of the room and double sinks are housed in a pink shelving unit. The floor around the bathtub is printed with a pebble design which might just trigger memories of BB3’s Poor Side bedding for long term fans of the show.

Garden:

As we already knew the garden features the longest pool ever seen in a UK BB House. Also visible in a mirror is a beach-hut like structure on the opposite side of the garden under a roofed area – most likely to be the entrance to the sauna.

At the end of the pool, which Housemates can cross via a bridge, is a chill out area printed with a beach design which would appear to stretch around at least two sides of the garden as it also provides the backdrop to the beach-hut.

The design of the House looks fairly clean and simple compared to recent years. The open plan design and apparent lack of rooms will mean Housemates won’t have many places to hide and there doesn’t even appear to be a snug area in the garden for them to retreat to. We think the design looks promising.

What are your thoughts on the new BB House design? We’d love to hear your comments below!
