Emma Willis: “I don’t want to see a bunch of wannabes in the House”

Big Brother’s Bit On The Side presenter, Emma Willis, has expressed that she hopes to see a “good, well rounded bunch of Housemates” move into the BB House next month, recapturing the group dynamics of early Big Brother series. Talking exclusively to Channel 5 Emma also revealed details of the BBBOTS format.

“I don’t want to see a bunch of crazy, whacky people who are just desperate to be on television”, said Emma, adding that she felt that over the last couple of series the Big Brother production team had been starting to “get the balance right again”.

Speaking on the importance of the balance of characters within the House Emma said she hopes not to see “too many eccentrics” in what she expects to be a “fresh” series of Big Brother on Channel 5. “I want to see some good storylines and I don’t want to see sex.”

Emma also revealed long awaited details about the format of her new Big Brother spinoff show, Big Brother’s Bit On The Side which she describes as “a brilliant fanzine show that will cater for every Big Brother superfan need.”

The show will air five nights a week after the main show on Channel 5 and according to Willis will be “a mixture of Little Brother, Big Mouth and then a whole new entity which is Bit On The Side.” She added that viewers could expect audience interaction, studio-based debate, celebrity fan appearances, ex-Housemate interviews as well as comment from journalists and specialists.

Emma also suggested that some familiar faces will be taking part in the show adding with a smirk that BBBOTS will contain “VT’s from other participating members of the team”, which will no doubt include ex-Housemates such as Josie Gibson who was recently seen filming for the show at the BB open-auditions.

Commenting on Brian landing the lead role as Big Brother’s new main show presenter in place of Davina McCall, Emma reiterated her love for him as a BB fan adding that she had voted for Dowling to win Big Brother 2 back in 2001. Emma also revealed that despite “desperately wanting to him win” she had refrained from voting for Brian in Ultimate Big Brother last year in the name of impartiality.

Having previously stated that she was happy for Brian to take the pressure of stepping into Davina’s shoes Emma sounded somewhat disappointed not to have landed the lead role as she added: “If anyone is to do the (main) show that was involved in it before, and it’s not me, then Brian is the perfect candidate really.”

  1. I think The presenting roles should be switched, Emma on the main show and Brian on BBBOTS

  2. I'm wondering if they will pull an X Factor USA-style stunt and switch the presenters last minute to make headlines. I think that is wishful thinking though to be honest!
